Today, March 24, the whole world celebrates the Day of the fight against tuberculosis - a formidable disease that kills about 4,500 people every day.
The purpose of this day is to inform and raise awareness about the infection, methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
100 years ago, artificial daisies were sold at charity events to raise money for tuberculosis patients. Therefore, the flower became a symbol of the fight against a disease that claimed the lives of millions.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, since 2000, thanks to the joint efforts of world states in the fight against this infection, more than 50 million people have been saved and the number of deaths from it has been reduced by 42%. Even so, about 30,000 people fall ill with tuberculosis every day.
Anyone can become infected with the infection. Airborne droplets and dust transmit it. Most often, tuberculosis is manifested by a cough that does not go away for a long time, sudden weight loss, fever and sweating at night.
Treatment of infection is quite difficult and lengthy, depending on the form and degree of neglect. However, modern drugs in most cases can achieve good results. It is better to diagnose the disease in a timely manner, and then the therapy will be much more effective. To do this, polyclinics have reliable studies: for adults - fluorography, for children - Manteaux and Diaskintest.
Take care of your health and the health of your loved ones!
