The team of the Ufa State Aviation Technical University, headed by Rector Sergey Novikov, defended the application before the Grants Council for the creation and development of advanced engineering schools.
89 universities from 41 regions of Russia compete for the right to open a new format engineering school in partnership with high-tech Russian companies. Within three days, the council, which includes the heads of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, company executives, leading experts in the field of science and education, and experts in specialized engineering areas, will consider development programs for advanced engineering schools. As a result, 30 universities will be identified, on the basis of which "Advanced Engineering Schools" will open.
Vyacheslav Vavilov, head of the Department of Electromechanics of the USATU, comments :
“A unique feature of the USATU Engineering School “Motors of the Future” is the involvement of students in design and scientific activities in the interests of realizing specific tasks set by the university’s high-tech industrial partners. The program for the development of NSP USATU will be implemented in partnership with JSC UEC, PJSC UEC-UEIA, FAU CIAM im. P. I. Baranova”, PJSC “KAMAZ”, LLC “BGK”, as well as the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and MSTU. N. E. Bauman.
The educational activities of our school will be flexible and adaptable: a digital platform will be developed and implemented to train future engineers, teachers from leading universities in the country and the world, as well as leading experts from the industry, will be involved in reading lecture materials. The student is given the choice of an individual educational trajectory and a leading benchmark for employment at NSP partner enterprises.”
Sergey Nazarenko, Chief Designer for Innovative Vehicles of PJSC KAMAZ, noted that KAMAZ is interested in designers, because now the plant is actively developing in terms of the model range.
“We are increasing the type of trucks, going into a lighter segment - these are small trucks, into the class of heavier trucks - mining dump trucks. Plus, we are expanding the range of buses - we are going to the passenger segment, or rather, we are even returning. We simply do not have enough bayonets. We need design engineers, process engineers, software engineers, logarithmic engineers, etc. That is, different specializations of engineers, which would be enough for all areas of car development. Therefore, we are interested in creating such advanced engineering schools not only in our KAMAZ development center in Naberezhnye Chelny, but throughout the country.
Now it is extremely important in Russia to revive engineering schools and raise them to a new level. KAMAZ participates in this competition with four universities at once - Ufa State Aviation Technical University, Ural Federal University, Kazan Federal University and Moscow Polytechnic University. Each university has its own strengths and weaknesses, its own specialization. We see that it is interesting for us to work with everyone, because the areas of development of the automotive industry are now so wide: electric cars, hydrogen, autonomous cars, trucks, buses, special trucks, mining equipment. We have a lot of development directions in wheel engineering, and we have adopted the strategy of a national champion. Therefore, we need engineering teams of different specializations in different cities,” Sergey Nazarenko said.
