On December 22, 2021, a regional tour of the XIX International Olympiad in the history of aviation and aeronautics named after A.F. Mozhaisky will be held in the USATU in an online format. Since November 12, municipal qualifying rounds are in full swing in zonal centers located in ten cities and regions of the republic.
- Conducting the regional stage of the International Olympiad in the history of aviation and aeronautics. A.F. Mozhaisky has long become a good tradition of USATU, - says the rector of the university Sergei Novikov. “For twelve years, thousands of talented children, who are passionate about aviation and astronautics, have taken part in the Olympiad movement. Many of them became scientists, engineers, designers and made a worthy contribution to the development of the domestic aircraft industry.
A bit of history:
In 2009, 12 years ago, about twenty students from Ufa schools, lyceums and colleges gathered for the first time in the Aviation University. Even then, the participants from Bashkortostan loudly declared themselves. The winners with their own hand-sewn flight attendant uniform with elements of national decor went to Moscow for the final stage.
In subsequent years, the Olympiad in Bashkortostan becomes more and more popular: the municipal stages are held in more than thirty settlements of the republic, and hundreds of young researchers from all over the republic take part in them.
From the story of the Associate Professor of the Department of Aviation Engines of the USATU, one of the founders of the Regional Center for the Olympiad in Bashkortostan, a member of the expert jury Sergey Kamenev:
“USATU has become a center of attraction for boys and girls in love with the sky. The jury members sometimes could not determine the winner, so serious and the project participants presented in-depth scientific research, the participants brought their own operating models: from quad copters and moon bugs to an experimental greenhouse module for growing lettuce leaves in zero gravity. Later, these talented schoolchildren became students of the USATU and other technical universities of the country, and their ideas formed the basis of scientific developments. "
By the way, the main tasks of the International Olympiad in the history of aviation and aeronautics named after A.F. Mozhaisky - popularizing the achievements of technical thought in the field of aviation and aeronautics and attracting young people to specialties and professions related to science and technology in the design, construction, production, testing and operation of aircraft.
For twelve years, Ural Sultanov, Honored Test Pilot of Russia and Test Cosmonaut of the USSR, was a permanent member of the jury of the regional stage at USATU. It is his name that bears the International Aerospace School. There are no analogues of the Bashkir aerospace school in the country. Legendary cosmonauts, famous pilots, the best aviation specialists conduct practical classes for technical talents.
In addition, our Bashkir talents invariably demonstrate the best achievements at the final stage in Moscow, taking prizes. Moreover, what is especially pleasing, among them are the first-year students of our university (boys and girls from 14 to 18 years old can take part in the Olympiad). Therefore, in 2017, Kristina Pushinskaya brought from Moscow a book by the famous Serbian pilot Radmila Tonkovic with the author's autograph for her performance “The History of Aviation in World Cinema”.
In 2019, Yulia Darintseva became the bronze medalist of the Olympiad, demonstrating a unique quadrocopter with a capture system - an electronic reconnaissance that can be used for long-term monitoring of the territory.
Very soon, we will find out what scientific ideas were born in our schoolchildren. This time the event will be dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of N.E. Zhukovsky.
